Coffee from the Gedeo Zone in Ethiopia, thrives in red-brown fertile soil under the shade of various tree species. Farmers selectively hand-pick ripe coffee cherries every eight to ten days, averaging 100 to 200 pounds of cherries per day per picker, which yields about 20 to 40 pounds of beans.

To meet the high demand for the Koke Honey coffee profile, a new washing station, Birbes Kela, was established in 2022 alongside the existing Koke station. Both are situated in the Yirgacheffe district and source cherries from approximately 1,200 smallholder farmers. The Koke washing station has been in operation since 2011 and has significantly improved coffee quality through producer guidance. Meanwhile, Birbes Kela, founded in 2020, quickly gained recognition for its high-quality coffees.

Once processed, the coffee cherries undergo fermentation, pulping, and drying, before being prepared for export.

All orders will ship within 2-3 business days. Orders are shipped via USPS unless otherwise instructed.

Once your order has been processed and shipped, a tracking number will be issued to you via email.

Please be aware that if you are a new monthly subscriber, your coffee subscription will be shipped at the beginning of the month following your purchase. If you are within the state of Utah and would like to grab a coffee bag ahead of time, please feel free to visit us with your invoice and we will issue you a bag of coffee to hold you over until your order is ready for pick up or ships out.

Return and Refund Policy

Thanks for shopping at The Bean Yard. If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, we're here to help.

You have 30 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. Your item must be in the original packaging. Your item needs to have a receipt or proof of purchase.

Once we receive your item, we will inspect it and notify you that we have received your returned item. We will immediately notify you of the status of your refund after inspecting the item. If your return is approved, we will initiate a refund to your credit card (or original method of payment). You will receive the credit within a certain amount of days, depending on your card issuer's policies.
